Our Story
Helmit was founded by Leonardo Benini and Alexander Wolters – two 23-year-olds from Munich who have known each other since kindergarten. Both studied at TU Munich: Leonardo in Mathematics, Alexander in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, later at ETH Zurich.
As members of Gen Z, they know the dynamics of digital spaces firsthand: bullying, harassment, cybergrooming, and harmful content. The statistics kept getting more alarming while AI got more powerful – and it became increasingly clear that the big platforms could protect children far more effectively. They just don't, because it would hurt their business.
They refused to accept that. So Helmit was born – built from personal experience, technical expertise, and the conviction that children deserve the same protection online as they have in the real world.
